Jim,
I have been very pleased with my training with Laura. She has been very flexible with our training times and willing to work with my changing schedule. "Laura has a great attitude and knowledge of the body and exercise! She has helped me re-evaluate how I was working out and why it was not effective!" We changed my routines to include breathing to emphasize my middle section. This surprised me in that it worked. I had the 16 session program working out twice a week. Now, I am signed up for an 8 week program to taper off our sessions and get me used to working out on my own. Thank you!

Questions and Answers
with Laura De Simone
Below Laura explains how she got into the business of personal training,
her overall approach with clients, her fitness philosophies and more.
Q: Why did you choose to become a personal trainer?
A: I chose to become a personal trainer because I had been an active athlete all my life, and wanted to share my knowledge with others. I knew I had the skills and personality to motivate people to become fit and active and adopt a healthy lifestyle, improving their overall well being.
Q: How are you different then other personal trainers? What is your specialty?
A: I am different from other personal trainers because I take the time to listen and identify with the clients and their needs. I am very dedicated and will work with anyone to try and help them reach their goals. One of my specialties is working with people post abdominal surgery or post-pardem. I have lots of experience teaching Pilates, and am very good at helping people restrengthen their core.
Q: What is your biggest challenge that you face when training clients?
A: My biggest challenge that I face is teaching people that exercise doesn't have to be something they dread, and that it can improve every aspect of their life.
Q: How do you deal with clients who aren't serious?
A: I try and identify with the client and express to them that if they are not serious about their work-outs, they will probably never get the results that they are looking for.
Q: What is the most important component to personal training that you advocate to clients?
A: The most important component that I advocate to clients is that it doesn't matter how much weight they are lifting, or how fast they can run, but t hat they are preforming exercises safely and healthily. I also try to advocate that nothing changes overnight, but through hard work and dedication you will see results.
Q: What are your strengths as a trainer? weaknesses?
A: My strengths as a trainer are relating to clients and helping them overcome their preconceived notions about exercise. I am very motivating, and will push people to the limit.
Q: What do you think of the ever popular Atkins Diet??
A: I think that the Atkins diet groups together too many carbohydrates. The body needs carbohydrates to help keep the digestive system and metabolism working. Cutting out the sugars and some simple carbohydrates may be beneficial to the diet. But one's diet should still consist of more than have carbohydrates. Also I don't like any diet that tells someone they can't EVER eat something. Most foods are good for you in moderation. Learning to eat healthy is not something that can be done by a fad diet.
Q: What question do you come across most with clients?
A: What is the fastest way to lose weight? is the questions that I come across the most.
Q: Who has been your greatest success story?
A: I had one woman who wanted to get back into swimsuit shape only 12 weeks after delivering her baby. We were able to get her down to 5 pounds less than her pre-pregnancy weight, and into a bathing suit! We did however, work out 5 days a week for at least an hour a day.
Q: What is your advice for clients first starting a fitness program?
A: Set small goals, but make sure you set them. Doing too much too fast can be detrimental to the body, but you will make progress. Make sure you don't jump in too quickly. Keep a schedule so you can see how much you are doing each day, and work from there.
Q: What type of training do you prefer, one-on-one or group? Why?
A: I personally prefer one on one tr aining with clients because I think you can be more attentive and reach them on a more personal level. I do like group classes for when I am teaching a basic toning class or Pilates, but for beginners I generally recommend one on one training.
Q: What are your personal goals for the future?
A: To stay healthy, stay active, continue my education and continue putting all of my energy into a job I love and I can be proud of.
