Preparing Healthy Meals is an Investment
by Jim Coughlin
The simple act of eating food can be such a complicated issue.
Time and again many people scratch their heads and wonder why they aren't getting results with their program.
And I guarantee you that the reason is because of what they are putting into their bodies day in and day out.
I'll keep repeating this again and again and again, because a lot of people STILL don't get it.
Nutrition is HUGE. It's makes or breaks the success of your fitness program. Period.
Eating the RIGHT types of food is something that you must not take for granted and is inescapable if you're really serious about getting into great shape.
Every single day you start with an empty plate, and it's up to you whether or not you fill that plate with healthy food or not. To move you two steps closer to your goals or two steps back.
If you are truly committed to eating healthy, you don't set yourself up for failure.
You plan, plan, plan.
You don't make excuses...coulda, shoulda, woulda...baloney.
How bout, you eat healthy or you don't.
I know...I know... "You don't have the time."
Well look, I'll be the first one to tell you that I wish there were 50 hours in a day...but that ain't gonna happen.
We're all busy. We all have jobs. We all have family responsibilities. This is something that is not going to change.
We all have 24 hours in day and if you're truly committed to being successful with nutrition, you must INVEST each hour wisely.
If you don't have time to eat 4-6 healthy meals a day then you must plan in advance.
And let me just answer some of you right now about the "4-6 meal a day thing..."

You CANNOT get in shape if you eat 3 square meals a day or less. It's not possible.
I've told you before, but if you need reminding, feel free to read this article - http://www.fitnessandresults.com/articles/done_right.php
Anyway, back to what I was saying.
You must invest your time to be successful and planning your meals in advance is a great way of doing this.
I for one invest my time by cooking the majority of my meals 2 times a month.
I spend every other Sunday, grocery shopping, cooking and at the same time watching football.
I use my favorite recipes from one of my favorite books - http://www.eatingforlife.com/ and cook in bulk. The majority of the meals I freeze and the others, I refrigerate.
After I'm done, I have the great feeling of knowing that for two weeks I don't have to worry about what to eat. Everything is prepared or ready to be prepared.
So, let me break this down...
In two weeks there are 360 hours.
120 of them I'm most likely sleeping, so that leaves me with 240 hours.
If I'm investing a measly 5 hours of preparing healthy meals out of 240...how much time do you think I'm saving???
Obviously, you don't have my schedule, but I'm sure you get the idea... A friggin boat-load!!
To make time you must invest your time and plan ahead.
If every day, you have a 50/50 chance of eating healthy or eating unhealthy/not eating anything at all, you're chances for getting results with your fitness program are basically unattainable.
I cannot tell you how happy I am to know that I don't have to worry about what to eat and that everything I'm eating is healthy because I planned it all out.
I strongly recommend that you start investing your time by making your meals in advance. It works for me and it will definitely work for you as well!
