5 Tips to Ensure Fitness Success for 2008
by Jim Coughlin
Ok, 2007 is over and its time to get ready for the new year.
How do you ensure that 2008 is your BEST, FITTEST year ever?
Simple - follow these 5 essential fitness tips.
Yes, you've probably heard them before, but I promise you, like death and taxes, these guidelines will always work, but only if you consistently implement them.
By the way, these tips aren't in any order of importance. Each one is equally vital to your success.
1. Write Your Goals Down
If you want to start your year with a huge bang, you need to not only know what your goals are, but they need to be staring you in the face day in and day out.
This can be done by purchasing 3x5 index cards and sticking them where you see them all the time - ie, your car, nightstand, fridge, office desk and so on. If you're visually reminded everyday what your goals are, this sets a great environment for you to successfully program your brain.
This tip has worked wonders for me for many years. It keeps you focused, accountable and mentally strong. Try it and you'll see what I mean
2. Make sure your program is convenient
Most people hate to exercise. Yes, it can be hard and boring at times but another big reason people dislike it is because it's inconvenient. This is true when people join gyms.
I've said this before, but wouldn't you much rather workout in your own home and be done with your routine within 30-45 minutes rather than adding an additional 30-45 minute commute of driving, plus having to deal with a horde of other people who get in your way and many other factors that will only deter you from consistently exercising.
Be honest, do you realistically see yourself taking 2 hours out of your day to exercise? I think you know the answer. You need something that is not only effective, but super- convenient and practical as well. And my new course "The In-Home Personal Trainer" is the ONLY program of its kinds that accomplishes this. If you were to look up "convenient" in the dictionary - you'd find my program right under it. For more information, go here - http://www.fitnessandresults.com/tihpt_platinum_gold.php

3. Stick to a Schedule
You have to be at work at a certain time. You have to drop your kids off and pick them up from school. You have to make dinner. You have to go to an important business meeting.
These things all require a schedule. And exercise should be no different. You must schedule your exercise sessions, otherwise I promise you, it won't get done.
4. Document Your Progress
This is HUGE. If you have no clue where you're starting off, how do you expect to be happy with your results? You won't, because it's not possible.
You need to know what your body measurements and body fat are before you start your program. You need to religiously document your workouts each and every time you exercise.
Time and time again I see people (and some trainers) NOT doing this. Don't be one of these people. Keep track of everything you do and you WILL reap the benefits.
5.Don't Give Up
Sure, this is a given but its something you need to hear. Ask yourself...How important is achieving my fitness goals to me?
If you're answer was "not that important" then you'll most likely give up. If it was "very important" then you won't give up. It's as simple as that.
All for now. Let's make 2008 great!
Yours in Total Fitness and Maximum Success,

Jim Coughlin
